Licenses are associated with an environment. If one of your users with a named license and an “Administrator” role creates a new environment, the system will use the same license for both environments.
Example
If you have three named user licenses and you have assigned two licenses to two users in one environment, then if one of these two users creates an additional environment, the last license will remain available in the first environment.
By default, “portal viewers” and “concurrent” licenses are associated with a single environment. Users with these licenses will not be able to access the newly created environment in our example.
However, you can make your licenses available in multiple environments. HEFLO allows you to create multiple environments, and it may be useful to restrict access to specific environments based on the users concerned.
Configuring Licenses for Multiple Environments
To configure this:
- Go to the “Manage Environment” menu, then to the “Environment Groups” section.
- Click the “+” button to create an environment group.
- Define a name for this group.
- Select the environments that will be part of this group. The list of available environments corresponds to those you can access.
- Designate one or more “managers.” These users will be able to update the group and manage environments without necessarily having the “Administrator” role. Learn more about roles: Roles on HEFLO.
- Click “Confirm” to validate the creation of the group.
Once the group is created, you can update the environments within it by clicking the pencil icon in the “Number of Environments” column of the corresponding row.
Assigning Subscriptions to Environment Groups
By default, no subscription is associated with an environment group, since subscriptions are linked to a specific environment. To transfer a subscription from an environment to an environment group:
- Go to the environment that contains the subscription.
- Open the “Manage Environment” menu and go to the “Subscriptions” section.
- In the “Location” column, you will see that the subscription is currently linked to an environment.
- Click the double arrows icon to associate this subscription with the newly created environment group.
- Return to the “Manage Environment” menu and the “Environment Groups” section.
From this point on, the licenses will be available for all environments within this group. You will then be able to assign licenses to these environments within the limit of the available licenses.
