Hierarchical level for “field” type participant definitions

You can now define different hierarchy levels in a field type participant definition.

The objective is to be able to automatically select one or more department managers on the different desired levels. This selection will then be made on the level corresponding to the organization of the departments that you have made in your environment.

  1. Go to the process editor.
  2. Select the lane or element corresponding to the desired participant definition. You can also view all participant definitions by clicking on the “Visualization mode” icon.

  3. Create or update the desired participant definition.

  4. Choose the participant type “field”.

  5. Choose the field that will determine the automatic selection of the participant.

  6. You can then choose a hierarchical level to determine the selected participant(s) according to the chosen field. If you want to use this hierarchical level, it will then be necessary to choose a field which has only one level. The selected field must not be a composition of several elements.

There are several hierarchical levels that have different objectives:

  • Manager of the parent department: This level is used to automatically select the manager of the parent department of the person selected in the field concerned.
  • Manager of department: This allows you to automatically select the manager of the department of the person selected in the field concerned.
  • All managers above: This level is intended to automatically select the manager of each higher department having a parent-type link with the department of the person selected in the field concerned.
  • Managers same level: This criterion is used to automatically select the manager of each department having the same parent department as the department of the person selected in the field concerned.

Warning: For the levels “All managers above” and “Managers same level”, the system will not select the manager of the department of the person selected in the field concerned. If you wish to include this manager, you then have the option of using a “union” type participant definition to make a composition of a definition having one of these 2 levels with another having the department manager level .
